The 2024 Journey

O God, you have called your servants to ventures of which we cannot see the ending, by paths as yet untrodden, through perils unknown. Give us faith to go out with good courage, not knowing where we go, but only that your hand is leading us and your love supporting us, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

At Prince of Peace, we take the season of Lent to pause and be reflective about our call to discipleship through an intentional process we call a Lenten Journey.

Starting the weekend of February 25, we begin our Forward in Faith Journey.

There are three main parts of this immersive experience:

A journey guide will be provided for every person - look for these at Prince of Peace or online in late February.

Journey Groups

We have a variety of groups that meet throughout the week at different times and across different groups throughout our community. We hope that you will find one that fits your needs and schedule. If you'd like to form a journey group to meet with others from the community (neighbors and friends are welcome too!), please let us know and we can help spread the word.

Week 4 - March 19-25

But only that your hand is leading us…

Share a high and a low from your day

Read from scripture John 12:20-26

Watch a Clip & Talk about it: I’ll Make a Man Out of You from Mulan

Mulan is trying to blend in with the soldiers in this song, but a lot of the things she’s asked to do are very hard! What happens when Mulan and the other soldiers try to cheat at the tasks Shang is having them do?  What happens when they honestly do what Shang asks them to do? When Mulan and her friends put in the hard work, they become a better team and develop skills that help them later! Jesus calls us to follow Him, and gives us instructions on what to do. Maybe you’ve heard some of what Jesus asks of us, like we should love God and love our neighbor as ourselves. Sometimes these things can be hard to do–Jesus asks us to be nice to people we don’t like and to follow Him to places we might be unsure or afraid of. Maybe we want to cheat at them or not do these things at all! Jesus knows it can be difficult, and wants us to know that He is always with you, ready to support and help. If we trust Jesus and practice showing God’s love, we can make the world a better place!

What’s your favorite way to love your neighbor?

Week 5 - March 26-April 1

and your love supporting us; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

Share a high and a low from your day

Read from scripture John 13:31-35

Watch a Clip & Talk about it: Carried Me with You from Onward

In the movie “Onward”, two brothers are on an amazing quest to spend one more special day with their father who passed away long ago. Through the many highs and lows, the brothers learn that their time together brings their father’s love into their hearts and that our loved ones stay with us, even long after they’re gone. In the same way, our prayer concludes with this line “and your love supporting us through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen” reminding us that God never leaves us to face our battles or our victories alone. Through the Holy Spirit we are comforted, challenged, and changed forever. God’s love sticks with us every step of the way.

Talk about a time when God’s love carried you through difficult time.

Pray O God, you have called your servants to ventures of which we cannot see the ending, by paths as yet untrodden, through perils unknown. Give us faith to go out with food courage, not knowing where we go, but only that your hand is leading us and your love supporting us, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Bless each other with a hug, a sign of the cross, or a high five.
