Longest Night Prayer Vigil

  • Prince of Peace Lutheran 101 South Lebanon Road Loveland, OH, 45140 United States (map)

In the Northern Hemisphere, December 21 is the longest night, the winter solstice. It marks the shortest day of the year, the official start of winter. Tradition says that nature and all her creatures stop and hold their breath to see if the sun will turn back from its wanderings, if the days will lengthen and the earth will once again feel the sun’s warmth.

On this darkest day of the year, we come with our honest yearnings seeking the return of light and hope. Prince of Peace is offering time slots for folks to come into the sanctuary to keep vigil during the longest night of the year. Due to COVID precautions we will only be allowing four people in the sanctuary during a given time slot. Masks must be worn and social distancing measures must be observed. We will also be offering a livestream of the sanctuary so vigil may be kept virtually.

Sign up here to hold vigil in person.

You can livestream the sanctuary for your vigil at home through the ZOOM links offered below. You will need to use the passcode to enter.
